About Hermanus

Hermanus is a coastal town in the Western Cape province, renowned as one of the world’s best destinations for land-based whale watching. Every year between June and December, southern right whales migrate to Walker Bay to calve and nurse their young. The town has a unique whale crier who announces whale sightings by blowing a kelp horn. Hermanus also offers world-class shark cage diving, beautiful cliff path walks, stunning vineyards and fresh seafood.

How to Get There

By Air

Cape Town International Airport (CPT) is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Hermanus via the N2 highway and R43 coastal road.

By Road

From Cape Town take the N2 highway towards Somerset West then follow the R44 coastal route through Gordon’s Bay and Kleinmond for the most scenic drive to Hermanus.
